Marquise de Sevigne black and white print (New York Public Library collection)

This print shows the Marquise de Sévigné in trademark hurluberlu coiffure and a full skirt draped like a mantua.

She wears a gorgeously draped mantua. This is more mid- than late-century, judging by the fullness of her skirt and the mantua draping. She died in 1696.
