1840s Baroness von Honrien by Moritz Michael Daffinger (Boris Wilnitsky)

Moritz Michael Daffinger was an Austrian Biedermeier miniaturist, according to Boris Wilnitsky. "Biedermeier" covers the period between the end of the Napoleonic wars and the upheavals of 1848, particularly in Austria and particularly as applies to interior design. As a result, the later part of the Biedermeier era spans about the first half of the early Victorian era.

Here is another example of a dress with an off shoulder vee neckline filled in with a modesty piece - this time worn by Baroness von Honrien.

Keywords:  Daffinger, Baroness, Austrian, straight coiffure, veil, off shoulder vee neckline, modesty piece, pleated bodice, wrap, necklace, brooch
