Lady Carden wears a dark gauzy over-dress beneath a similar evening wrap in this 1861 photo. Her lighter-colored crinoline is decorated with swags, diagonal ribs, and florets and probably rests on a darker under-skirt. She also appears to be wearing a white lace bodice ornament or even jacket.
