The Musée d'Orsay has posted a number of excellent photos on the Internet, including this one. But the dates may often be off. The reason will be given below.
Detail-enhanced and image enlarged by half by gogm.
The Baroness Farincourt wears a superb example of a late crinoline dress with probable waist band and natural, not vee, waistline and a half conical skirt. Her coiffure is straight up front, but shows bustle era complexity in back. This photo was probably taken around 1868. Compare to the 1868 photo of Princess Louise.
Keywords: Lejeune, Baroness Farincourt, Baroness, French, long straight coiffure, off shoulder neckline, bertha, cap sleeves, ruffles, cuffs, waist band, bows, over-skirt, flounces, lace, necklace, bracelets
