Members of the Trubetzkoi family, a deep-rooted Russian aristocratic family, were frequently portrayed and photographed - at least while they were in France. Russian names can be difficult to spell in English and Trubetzkoi is a good example. It can also be spelled Troubetzkoi, Trubetskoi, Troubetskoi, Trubetzkoy, Troubetzkoy, Trubetskoy, and Troubetskoy. I believe there are other variations, including replacing the final i or y with iy - that, I believe, is phonetically correct. The cyrillic spelling is Трубецкой. Sophie became the Duchesse de Morny. Both Sophie and Lizaveta were beautiful and fashion-conscious.
