SUBALBUM:  Marie of Saxe-Altenburg, Queen of Hanover

The Hanovers split between Germans and English when British law allowed a woman, Queen Victoria, to rule while Hanoverian law didn't. Queen Marie's husband, George V of Hanover, and her were forced to leave Hanover because Hanover sided with Austria in the Austro-Prussian war that year and Prussia won. Prussia annexed Hanover. Her Wikipedia article is here.
