Empress Eugénie by Claude Marie Dubufe (Musee Municipal, Trouville)

Dress can be timeless, as this Dubufe portrait of Empress Eugénie shows, but the lack of a cage crinoline suggests the early 1850s.

An article about the painter Claude Marie Dubufe is here.

Her dress has a stomacher and the waistline has a very shallow vee, essentially a natural waistline.

Keywords:  1853, Dubufe - Claude, Empress Eugénie, Empress, Bonaparte family, French, straight coiffure, hat, off shoulder straight neckline, stomacher, quarter length close sleeves, natural waistline, full skirt, necklace, bracelets
