1788-1792 Charlotte, Lady Milnes by George Romney (The Frick Collection, New York City)

This is her brief article from thepeerage.com:  "Charlotte Frances Bentinck F, #23431, d. 1850  Last Edited May 2009

Charlotte Bentinck

Charlotte Frances Bentinck married Sir Robert Shore Milnes, 1st Bt., son of John Milnes, on 12 November 1785. She died in 1850.

She was the daughter of Captain John Albert Bentinck and Renira van Tuyll van Serooskerken. Her married name became Milnes."

Her birth date is not listed and is, presumably, unknown.

Lady Milnes is ravishing in this example of pre-revolutionary style with satin skirt and bodice and muslins sleeves under a broad feathered hat. Her sleeves end with small engageantes. Her shoes and hosiery are completely visible.

Keywords:  1788, Romney, British, long coiffure, feathered hat, scoop neckline, modesty piece, elbow length puffed sleeves, engageantes, full skirt, train, shoes, handkerchief
