1811 Joséphine court dress from Costume Parisien

Josephine ceased to be Empress in 1810 so this may be a retrospective of her from 1811. Costume Parisien persisted into the Bourbon restoration period and a series of Costumes Parisiens prints were issued using a stencil (Fr. "pochoir") technique in the Belle Époque. This print mentions the textile center of Lyon; the couturier Worth patronized Lyon later in the 1800s.

This print shows Joséphine wearing court dress with spiral-decorated sleeves and décolletage framed by a cherusque bertha.
