I had to scratch around to find which Picasso painted this. Pable Picasso could have painted this early in his career by copying another portrait. Or it could have been an earlier Picasso. The painter was Matteo Picasso whose French Wikipedia article is here. Posted to Foro Dinastias by Minnie on 11 June 2011.
Maria Brignole wears a dress showing how Empire style ended and Early Victorian style began with a belt marking a slightly raised waistline above a skirt that was changing from trim A-line to full. Her cuffs have a portion that flares back up her sleeves like lace engageantes of earlier years.
