1710 Marquesa Angela Maria Lombardi by ? (The Walters Art Museum, Baltimore)

This 1710 portrait of the Marquesa Angela Maria Lombardi shows what awoman could do with early XVIII-century style. She is wearing an early example of a Sévigné brooch and engageantes flaring downward and also back toward the shoulder, what are called forward-back flared engageantes in the keywords. These were used on narrower quarter or elbow length sleeves for much of the remainder of the century.
