From 29 April 1697, her married name became Leslie.

Colonel Charles Leslie d. 1769

 John Leslie, 10th Earl of Rothes+ b. 1698, d. 1767."

This portrait shows how long the British casual style made famous by Lely persisted. Though undated, Jean Hay married in 1697 and her son John was born in 1700.
