From anticstore.art/60053P; the shadows were filled in revealing the veil and details of her bodice. This revealed a few dozen spots that were removed with Photoshop.

Madame de Maintenon is dressed in lace, costly at the time, and wears a jeweled crucifix, but the mass of black makes this dress look austere. Most portraits show her with dark hair, but this shows her with blond hair. This could be due to hair coloring or other portraits could have dark hair due to hair color.
