ca. 1694 Princess Anne and William, Duke of Gloucester by studio of Sir Godfrey Kneller (National Portrait Gallery, London)

Casually dressed Princess Anne holds one of her children in this Kneller portrait from around 1694. Queen Anne bore many children, but none survived to adulthood. This ended the house of Stuart and ushered in the Hanoverian dynasty that still serves today as the House of Windsor.

Princess Anne's casual dress has a split bodice held together with a pearl button or clasp while clasps secure her sleeves in this 1694 Kneller.
