1715-1718 Elżbieta Sieniawska by Ádám Mányoki (Magyar Nemzeti Galéria, Buda Castle - Budapest Hungary)

This woman who smoked like a man was called an "Amazon." She maintained an open marriage, at least for her. With all of this going on, she maintained considerable power and she was called the "unofficial Queen of Poland." She supported Hungarian independence. Her Wikipedia article is here.

This portrait shows how quick and widespread the decline of Louis XIV dress was. Elżbieta Sieniawska's bodice would be presentable anywhere in central Europe for years to come, and even longer with tight- or close-fitting sleeves. The fripon curls over the eyes serve to approximately date this portrait.
