This 1735 Auerbach portrait of Kaiserin Elisabeth Christine resembles those of her famous daughter, Empress Maria Theresia.
Empress Elisabeth Christine’s sleeves are somewhat anachronistic
being puffed with a vee notch with a clasp at the apex. The underlying fabric
appears to be luxurious slate-blue satin also revealed as bodice lining.
