This subalbum covers a woman who helped evolve the UK to a constitutional monarchy. Two American colonies were named for her, Queen Caroline of Ansbach, wife of King George II. Her brief Wikipedia article is here. Lucy Worsley has a superb article about her here.
Ann
Lauren’s blogspot has an article about Queen Caroline with these two rhymes:
You may strut, dapper George, but 'twill all be in vain,
We all know 'tis Queen Caroline, not you, that reign.
and:
Queen, Queen Caroline
Washed her hair in turpentine.
Turpentine made it shine,
Queen, Queen Caroline.
George II outlived the Prince of Wales, Frederick, so when George II died, Frederick’s son George became George III.
