Undated Carogis drawings early 1770s

The people are:  left - Marquise de Courtebonne, madame de Montcalm and le comte de Puységure , center - Marquise de Rumain with la comtesse de Polignac and mademoiselle de Romain, and right - Marquise de la Croix. I have seen the Countess of Polignac also called the Duchess of Polignac. She figured prominently in the fall of Marie Antoinette. Her Subalbum is here.

All are at the Musée Condé, Chantilly France. Photos by René Gabriel Ojéda that were enlarged by half by gogm.

The winds of change have yet to stir fashion. Coiffures are growing tall, but pannier dresses hang on - and on. The right Lady wears a floral headdress, the others wear caps. They wear panniers, typically  à la française.
