Could Prince Charles join the Ku Klux Klan? More to the point, could Edward VIII have really qualified to be a Nazi? The answer is "No" because of Queen Charlotte who was partially black. Maybe Edward VIII knew it, maybe not. Charlotte, a large city in North Carolina, is named after her. She endured George III's insanity towards the end of his reign, often attributed to the inborn error of metabolism porphyria. After two of her sons, George and William, reigned as King without leaving an heir, her son Edward produced a durable child to carry on the Welf line - Alexandrina Victoria who became Queen in 1837.
