She had a successful marriage and an active life that was affected by wars and the Spanish Civil War of 1936. Her family was not against the NSDAP, her son and grandsons serving in the Wehrmacht until Hitler turned against the Bavarian royals. The Gestapo inspected her house and read her mail to Spain. At war's end, American troops stole jewelry that turned out to be paste. She died from the effects of a fall in 1946.
