Caterina d'Austria by ? (Museo civico Casa Cavassa - Saluzzo, Piemonte Italy)

The title was distracting. Caterina of Austria. This shows Infanta Catalina Micaela serving the Habsburg dynasty in foreign realms. However, she upheld Savoian sovereignty against Spanish inroads. Saluzzo became part of Savoia in 1588.

Catalina uses rubies and pearls in her headdress, carcanet necklace, and girdle to add color and an additional note of opulence to her black silk or satin and gold saya.
