ca. 1560 Mariana of Austria, half-length, in a silver silk dress by François Clouet (location ?)

The name Mariana could mean Mariana of Austria, but she was born in 1654, or Ana de Austria, but she was born in 1549 and would be about 11 in 1560, or Ana’s mother Maria de Austria. The subject of this portrait looks like both Ana de Austria and Maria de Austria and is probably Maria de Austria. If this is Maria de Austria, then she would have met Clouet through her daughter Elisabeth.

This is a lovely dress enhanced by the soft folds of her sleeves. The tabbed sleeves exaggerate her shoulders.
