According to Herbert Norris, Tudor Costume and Fashion, p. 206 (Dover re-issue 1997) - "A beautiful Spanish sleeve is worn by the Empress Isabella...The whole dress...is composed of rose-colored velvet ornamented with rich gold braid three- to four-inches in width; down the sides of the bodice front it is narrowed by folding. The edges of the sleeve are caught together with jewels in gold mounts. Two gold cords fixed with pearls at intervals and arranged in lines decorate the white transparent lawn partelet and small under-sleeves..."

Her dress has a double neckline. The main neckline is square with the upward-pointing crescent at the bottom, but modesty is provided by the partlet, ending in a small ruff, that conceals everything except part of her neck and her head. Her gown is complex with false sleeves filled in by her chemise and an over-skirt over an ornate kirtle.
