The bodice extends out like the cuirasse of a knight’s armor. The ruff does not fan out behind her head, a style that would return during Napoléonic times. The farthingale has a separate top like an English farthingale, but it does not extend flare out as widely making it a blend of the English and French styles of farthingales.
