1685 Sophia Charlotte of Braunschweig-Lüneburg by ? (location ?)

This portrait is in a gold frame that was cropped. I do not know if the surround is a trompe l’oeil frame or if she is standing in a dark doorway. Filling in shadows revealed numerous paint cracks, but also revealed the outline of her coiffure.

Enlargement shows negligée-clad Sophie Charlotte wearing her hair in an oval of curls, the core of a true hurluberlu coiffure.
