1790 Présumé de Marie Antoinette by Pierre-Noël Violet (Musée du Louvre - Paris, France) RMN despot

The Web site marie-antoinette.forumactif.org/t2304-portraits-en-miniature-de-marie-antoinette-par-pierre-noel-violet-et-francesco-bartolozzi has this note about the portrait (Google translation)”

"...a very seductive miniature, a bust of Marie Antoinette, in a gaulle lined with rose and trimmed with lace, inlaid on a corset showing the breast and adorned with a pink knot.

Originally given to Sicardi, this graceful image, which is part of the Doistau collection, was awarded in 1906, by Henri Bouchot, to Pierre Noël Violet.

A bust of the queen which Bartolozzi engraved after the latter in 1790, and which in fact presents some analogies with the miniature Doistau, we believe, in this rather hasty identification.”

The word “gaulle” translates to chemise à la reine, but could a gaulle also be a negligée? I believe this is a negligée with a lace collar. This appears to be an erotic portrait of Marie Antoinette painted for an unknown viewer and purpose.
