María Francisca de Sales Portocarrero (1754-1808) 6th condesa de Montijo by ? (location unknown to gogm)

This girl became a significant player in Spanish history. She ran an influential salon and opposed the machinations of Manuel Godoy, Maria Luisa de Parma’s favorite. Her son Cipriano’s wife, Maria Manuela Kirkpatrick, can be seen here. Don Cipriano and Maria’s daughters Maria Francisca, “Paca,” can be seen here and Maria Eugenia, Empress Eugénie, can be seen here. A good Spanish-language biographic article for this condesa de Montijo is here. She is probably the sixth condesa de Montijo, although this genealogical sketch lists her as the seventh condesa de Montijo.

Young Maria Francisca’s dress is austere, except for the double lace engageantes, and it is all black and white. She wears pearl earrings.
