ca. 1764 Princess Charlotte Amalie of Hesse-Philippsthal (or Maria Anna Sophia of Saxony) by Georg Desmarées studio (Museum Friedberg im Wittelsbacher Schloss - Friedberg, Bayern, Germany)

This could be Maria Anna Sophia or her sister, for whom few portraits exist, Charlotte Amalie. The sitter more closely resembles Anna Maria Sophia so the image is posted here.

Maria Anna Sophie appears to be wearing a jacket with ruched edges over her bodice. The sleeves are short enough to fully display the engageantes. This is a good study of the wire-framed circular caps of the period. Unless they used something other than iron, the cap was probably unsuitable for dress soon after its first contact with water or rain.
