Caroline Juliane Albertine von Schlotheim shows she is erudite and ready wearing what appears to be a peignoir over a décolleté nightgown. The court of Hesse is not following French Revolutionary style. All of that hair appears to be hers, but, in the words of an ancient hair coloring advertisement, "only her hairdresser knows for sure."
