1891 Princess Hatzfeldt, née Huntington Royalty Portrait by Arthur Jule Goodman

This lofty looking Lady had to be adopted out while young. But her mom’s sister was married to one of the California Big Four, Collis Potter Huntington. So she grew up in the globalized and interconnected world and married Prince Franz Edmund Joseph Gabriel Vitus von Hatzfeldt-Wildenburg. Her prospective hubby was down and out, but Collis Huntington set that right.

The leg-o-mutton sleeve has arrived, though these sleeves are not as gigantic as some a few years later. The dress appears to have a lace tucker knotted and falling away below the pouter pigeon pouff of its upper bodice. The dress may also have a Swiss belt secured by three buttons on her right side.
