1873 Comtesse Keller by Alexandre Cabanel (Musée d'Orsay, Paris)

This image is close to what the actual work looks like, at least in terms of darkness.

The Countess Keller wears a spectacular off shoulder dress under a fur-lined satin wrap in this 1873 Cabanel portrait. The nature of the shiny object of her headdress is unidentifiable in the original work, but called a jeweled ornament below. A substantial amount of cabochon jewelry can be seen at left.

Keywords:  1873, Cabanel, Maria Eduardovna Keller, Maria Eduardovna Kleinmichel, Countess, curly coiffure, jeweled feathered headdress, off shoulder vee neckline, modesty piece, bows, earrings, bracelets, wrap
