She lived from 1436 - 1467, and was wife of Holy Roman Emperor Friedrich III. This is a posthumous portrait.

Eleonore of Portugal is portrayed here wearing late medieval dress. She is probably wearing a surcoat, an open sided garment left from the fourteenth century.
