ca. 1612 Lady Elizabeth Pope, née Blount (c.1515–1593) by ? (Trinity College, University of Oxford - Oxford, Oxfordshire UK)

Why is this portrait at Oxford University? Because her husband Thomas Pope founded Trinity College there. She was his third and last wife; he died childless. He was her second of three husbands; she also died childless.

Lady Elizabeth wears a severe black dress made brilliantly alive by red under-sleeves and numerous pearls. How much artistic license the 1612 portraitist took is unknown.
