1560 Eleonora de Toledo by Bronzino (National Gallery of Art, Washington USA)

What a difference ten years made. Bronzino portrayed a gaunt Eleonora de Toledo in this 1560 portriat - the most beautiful dress could not hide her condition. 21st-century forensic examinations of her body have revealed a huge calcium deficiency which must have caused her enormous amounts of ill health, and dental pain.

She appears to be wearing a jeweled jacket with thick or somewhat puffed sleeves.

Keywords:  1560, Bronzino, straight coiffure, jeweled headdress, high enclosing neckline, partlet, square neckline, modesty piece, jacket, collar, lining, long tapered sleeves, cuffs, necklace, earrings, jeweled jacket, handkerchief
