ca. 1616 British linen, silk, and metal jacket (Metropolitan Museum of Art - New York City, New York USA)

From the Metropolitan Museum of Art via the "embroidered jackets" site on Pinterest.

This British jacket has a peplum extension to fit over a French farthingale or substantial bum roll. The botanical-in-curlicue embroidery is wonderful. The armscyes are set back in this example.
