From the Google Art Project via Wikimedoa; spots removed throughout most dark areas in the background and those areas were then blurred with Photoshop, vertical cracked paint flaws fixed especially on the face and neckline areas, abraded paint flaws fixed, and spots throughout image removed with Photoshop.
