ca. 1618 Alatheia Talbot Countess of Arundel by Daniël Mijtens, (National Portrait Gallery, London UK)

Alathea Talbot wears a dress showing the lack of direction prevailing at the end of the farthingale era. Her dress has what amounts to a bertha, but it flares into a ruff in back. Her dress has hanging sleeves with matching false sleeves - now under-sleeves. Her dress also has a tabbed bodice with a sharp vee point and her skirt is decorated with aglets.
