The picture is dated to 1622, Lady Wriothesley is in widow's dress, and she was widowed in 1624.

The lace veil trailing on the floor to the left is of interest. Her dress is black save for the hanging cloth of gold band decorated with shamrocks, her gold jewelry, and her neck ruff.
