1550 (after) Anna d'Este by ? of the French school (Versailles)

Anna d'Este married twice. Her Wikipedia article can be found here.

Anna d'Este shows fashionable French dress in mid-century including an upswept, crescent, neckline, French hood, and and shallow necklace. She wears rolled and slashed sleeves (or rolled sleeves ornamented with puffs of cloth) often seen later in the century. Her necklace is draped lengthwise across her upper chest, an arrangement that will be seen repeatedly, especially in illustrations by François Clouet.
