Eleonora de' Medici wears an Italian version of the Spanish saya in this portrait by Lavinia Fontana. This portrait conveys an air of elegant and easy opulence with the open neckline. She is probably wearing a bell-shaped farthingale, opened at the front showing light-colored material below. She wears a collar of white material emerging from beneath her ruff to frame her light-colored under-bodice.
