Joanna's jacket has a ruff-like collar that surrounds the neckline ruff of her bodice. She wears several rows of pearls and a large gold-and-stones pendant ornament. Although diamonds were known and valued, science and technology were not up to producing complex faceted and retro-reflecting shapes so gold and colored stones dominated jewelry.
