Princess Louise by John Watkins

Princess Louise is sitting for this photo, probably taken in the early 1870s.

Princess Louise's dress is bunched in the back as though there is a bustle and she is wearing a curly coiffure. Straight coiffures went out with the arrival of the 1870s. The trace of a white ruff and white cuffs suggests she is wearing a chemisette.
