Maria Hendrika had the misfortune of having to marry one of history's greater villains for dynastic reasons. I have read that she married Leopold II of Belgium to make Belgium less attractive to Napoleon III and also to legitimize the protestant Wettin family in Catholic Belgium by marriage to the most Catholic family in Europe - the Habsburgs.
