She was Princess Feodora's sister, Queen Victoria's niece, and the mother of Kaiser Wilhelm II's first wife, Augusta Victoria of Schleswig-Holstein. Napoleon III courted her, much to Queen Victoria's dismay, before marrying Eugenia de Montijo y Guzman. Adelaide's daughter Augusta Viktoria married the future Kaiser Wilhelm II.
