1841 Sophie Bayern by Joseph Karl Stieler (Schönheitengallerie Schloß Nymphenburg, München Germany)

This is the Sophie who had her husband stand aside to allow Franz Joseph to become Austria's Emperor and Sisi's foe in Vienna. She was also the ill-fated Emperor Maximillian's mother and mother in law of Empress Carlota.

The note for her 1832 portrait with baby Franz Joseph states, "Countess Sophia's dress has Gigot sleeves (truncated in this portrait) and a pleated bodice consistent with a bateau neckline in this 1832 Stieler portrait."
