She was the daughter of King George I and his wife Sophia Dorothea of Celle who was imprisoned by George I. True to family form, her brother George II detested her. Sophie married Friedrich Wilhelm of Prussia, the subject of a mutual lifelong animosity and was the mother of Friedrich II, "The Great."
