Maria Manuela’s dress is simple for the 1500s making it all the more striming. The wide girdle and pendant rope complement the trim of her dress. Her over-sleeves have a few wide slashed slits. She wears three layers of sleeves - 1) long tight jeweled under-sleeves with ruffled cuffs that are equivalent to false sleeves, 2) darker or olive green middle sleeves that almost reach the floor that are roughly equivalent to hanging sleeves, and 3) flared over-sleeves with jeweled hems that are roughly equivalent to the upper part of hanging sleeves.
