Peter Paul Rubens again portrayed Isabel Clara Eugenia wearing a black saya in this portrait.
The colors of her saya and the relative plainness of her ruff and cuffs is Rembrandtian. Her dress could be made of leather. She is wearing a coat, but without contrasting lining, as seen in several earlier portraits. Hannging sleeves, complete with cuffs, dangle behind her.
The most impressive part of her dress is the tiara-like jeweled headdress.
