1769 Pfalzgrafin Maria Amalie Auguste by Heinrich Karl Brandt (Reiss-Engelhorn-Museen, Mannheim)

Pfalzgrafin Maria Amelie wears an alternate style to square necklines and tight sleeves with engageantes in this 1769 Brandt portrait. While her neckline is square, it is so rounded that it could be called a scoop neckline and her sleeves are puffed where they join the arms and start puffing below the constriction caused by the pearl rope. Pfalzgrafin Maria Amalie wears no jewelry on her person, but her dress is richly ornamented at various seams with pearl ropes.
