Jérôme Bonaparte and his wife Catherine of Württemberg by Francois Joseph Kinson (Châteaux de Versailles et de Trianon - Versailles France)

Jérôme had a checkered life. He went to the USA while young and married Elizabeth Patterson. Their grandson Charles Joseph Bonaparte served as United States Secretary of the Navy and United States Attorney General. He founded the precursor of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 1908. Jérôme was installed by his brother Napoléon as King of Westphalia and married Catherine to add a note of legitimacy in 1807. Events in Napoléon's decline resulted in Jérôme and Catherine being evicted back to France. Catherine died in 1835. Catherine's daughter Mathilde rose to prominence during the Second Empire. Jérôme's Wikipedia article is here.
